Last report from London

Shopping in London is always nice, but some stores seem to be struggling. Zavvi (ex Virgin, ex Tower) has been put under recievership. They are selling all their stock with a 10 % reduction on everything. But who is complainging when you can but The Complete Inspector Morse series (more than 30 episodes) for as little as £36?

Once again we hace been handed proof of the British poor understang of what a real winter is. The papers talk about Arctic conditions because somewhere in Britain it was -10 C last night. There is ice on most of the Serpentine in Hyde Park and the morning news taught travellers how to get by in the appaling weather conditions. They actually had half an inch of snow in London yesterday, but it melted away as soon as it hit the ground.

Did I complain about the Spamalot musical closing? They had their last night last Saturday. The signs outside the theatre are still there though.
And the Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square was taken down yesterday, along with many of the Christmas decoretions in the streets. And the Christmas fair at Leicester Square has closed as well.

We visited Westfields yesterday. It is a new enormous in door shippong centre at Shepherd's Bush. Name a shop and you will find it there, along with cafes and restaurants, and nice armchairs and sofas for men to sig in when their wives are shopping. Somewhere I read that there are more than 300 shops in Westfield, without counting them I must say it seems possible.

Last night we went to a musical, Billy Elliot. Everyone I have met who has seem it has raved about it, and even Time Out gives it a recommendation. And I agree. It is one hell of a musical. I love the film, but the musical is every bit as good, and with very simple means the crew has created superb effects. See it if you come to London. It is worth every penny.

And do not miss the Priness Diana Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, just wets of the bride and south of the lake. You vill understand why when you see it.

Time to go to Heathrow. Will be back with a report in Swedish on Wednesday evening.
